Look for leaks

Look for possible oil leaks. If the engine looks very clean and shiny it doesn't mean it has no leaks. Probably it has been shampooed. Most of the dealers shampoo the engine before putting a used car for sale. But there is the trick - look underneath the vehicle using your flashlight. Check the lower part of the engine and transmission. Everything has to be dry. There might be slight wetness which is not that bad, but there should be no leaks. See any leaks? Oil drops on the parking space? - this may indicate a problem.

Note, the water condensations dripping from air conditioner drain tube is normal. This drain tube is usually located on the passenger side of the firewall.

If it's possible, look at the internal parts through the oil filler neck (Don't open the oil cap while the engine is running!)

Dirty engine Clean engine

Oil sludge inside the engine

With the engine turned off, try to open the engine oil cap and look inside through the oil filler hole. Use a small flashlight. If it's possible to see any internal parts there, check their condition. What you are looking for is the oil sludge - this thick black buildup on internal parts you can see on the lower photo (this is how the sludged up engine looks inside, with the valve cover removed). If you see a lot of black oil sludge buildup inside the engine it means that either the engine oil hasn't been changed for a long time, or the engine has been overheated, or poor quality oil was used.
In either case, avoid buying such a car - sooner or later it will have serious engine problems.
Well maintained engine usually looks pretty clean inside; if you check few cars of the same model it's easy to see the difference. However, again, if the engine looks clean inside it doesn't mean that it has no other possible problems - as a last step, have the vehicle inspected by a mechanic of your choice.

You dont need to be car guru to do this, everyone can do it.

Locate the engine oil dipstick, pull it out, wipe it off with clean cloth and insert it back. Pull it out again and have a close look.

If you find the oil is completely black (although for the Diesel engine black oil is normal) and (or) the oil level is very low (left picture) - suspect excessive oil consumption and (or) lack of maintenance. In either case the engine will more likely to have problems in the future. Another sign of poor maintenance would be dark stains (carbon deposits) covering the oil dipstick along its length.

Well maintained engine will more likely to have cleaner oil and the proper oil level (right picture), although this doesn't necessarily mean that the engine is in good shape; the oil just could have been changed recently.

Things you should know before going to check a used car

When buying a used car, without a doubt, first check a car history records. Some cars may have been flooded - worthless to buy. Others were written off by insurance due to serious accident. Many cars have altered mileage, and so on.

If looking at the used car you noted any problem with the engine (e.g: major oil leak or strong noise) or any abnormal behavior don't let the salesperson to mislead you. They may tell you, for example, that the leak is "overflow from the recent oil change" or "the noise will disappear later by itself or something like this". Generally, such defects never disappear by itself. If you have hesitation, move on - there are so many cars available.

Ask for service records if they are available. Look for oil change intervals - was the oil changed regularly? I mean driving 1,000 miles over suggested oil change interval won't cause a big damage, but, for example, 9,000-12,000 miles (15,000-20,000 km) without an oil change may cause serious engine problems in the future.

2010 Audi S5 Cabriolet - First Drive Review

They would fast-track the production of lighter cars with lower-displacement engines, and we’d use less gas and have smaller carbon footprints. World peace would follow shortly thereafter. Less than a year later, downsizing is here: The Audi S5 cabriolet will be among the first vehicles to hit the market with significantly reduced engine displacement and fuel consumption compared with the model it replaces. (In this case, that’s the 4.2-liter V-8–powered 2009 S4 cabriolet, since this is the first-ever S5 droptop.) The S5 cab shares its supercharged 3.0-liter V-6 with the all-new 2010 S4 sedan, although the S5 coupe will retain the use of a naturally aspirated V-8 until the 2011 model year, when it gets the blown six. Audi claims the V-6 delivers nearly identical performance and 20 percent better overall fuel economy compared with the V-8.

Less Power, but the Same Torque as the V-8

The S5 cabriolet’s 333 hp is 21 fewer than the coupe’s V-8, but each engine makes exactly 325 lb-ft of torque. The supercharged engine has more grunt at low rpm, though, and Audi claims the S5 sprints just as quickly to 62 mph as it would with the V-8: an estimated 5.6 seconds. In the U.S., the S5 cabriolet will be available only with a seven-speed dual-clutch manumatic that Audi calls S tronic. U.S. Audi officials say they couldn’t bring a manual S5 cabriolet to the States because the handful of people who might special-order one doesn’t justify the expense associated with importing it. The S5 coupe still is available with a manual.

The S5 cabriolet comes standard with Quattro all-wheel drive with a 60-percent nominal rear torque bias. Optional is Audi’s new active torque-vectoring rear differential, a system that can spin the outside rear tire faster than the inside wheel to help the car turn. Suspension is by aluminum multilinks all around with optional electronically controlled damping.

A Fancy Fabric Roof and a Fabulous Interior

Unlike some competitors, the S5 cabriolet retains a traditional folding fabric roof. Audi design head Stefan Sielaff says the cloth roof is more upscale than a folding hardtop because it implies you have a garage in which to park. It also allows more elegant proportions and preserves trunk space. Although we can’t exactly wrap our heads around the notion that the hardtop-totin’ BMW 3-series convertible is déclassé, we also can’t deny that the S5 cabriolet is gorgeous—top up or down—and oozes sex appeal. Upturned LED running lights and Audi’s signature “single frame” trapezoidal grille create an aggressive front end. An undulating character line carries over from the S5 coupe and sweeps over the wheel openings, accentuating subtle fender bulges and giving the cabriolet a hunkered-down stance that makes it instantly distinguishable from the purposeful but plain S4 cabriolet. The best angle is the rear three-quarter view, where perfectly formed LED taillights frame a low, taut rear end. We drove the car in Monaco, a place so loaded with exotic cars that Rolls-Royce Phantoms routinely pass unnoticed, but the S5 cabriolet still got a lot of looks.

The S5 cabriolet’s interior is equally stunning. Arcs of brushed aluminum trim and French-stitched leather are modern, but not so much so that you’re intimidated. Like the cabins of many Audis, this one sets the bar for the class. Two types of front seats will be offered in the U.S., aggressive sport seats with prominent side bolsters being the standard. They look and feel great, but they can’t be fitted with the newly available neck-level heating system, which blows hot air out of a vent on the top of the backrest. A package with heated and cooled seats and the neck blowers comes with slightly less aggressive thrones. The back seat is strictly a two-passenger affair but is spacious for a convertible in this class and tolerable for adults.

2010 Audi A4 Allroad Quattro 2.0 TFSI - First Drive Review

You like the contemporary urban styling of Audi’s A4 Avant wagon. You’re concerned, however, that you might get stuck for lack of ground clearance, scratch your bumper on a steep incline, or even tear off your oil pan as you climb over rocks and boulders during off-road excursions. Nope, can’t risk it—time to shop for a burly off-roader.

Audi has found a solution to this sliver-thin gap in its product lineup with the Allroad Quattro models. They have been available as part of the last and current A6 range—the first-gen A6-based Allroad was sold in the U.S.—and now the concept has migrated to the A4 lineup. With the advent of the Q5 and Q7 crossovers, however, the automaker killed the A6 Allroad Quattro in the U.S., and this A4 isn’t for us, either. Or so Audi says.

Power and Efficiency from the 2.0-liter

We tested the version of the A4 Allroad that would most likely be offered in the States: the gasoline-powered 211-hp, 2.0-liter TFSI, which is positioned between 170-hp, 2.0-liter and 240-hp, 3.0-liter TDI turbo-diesels. It’s the same engine available in U.S.-market A4 sedans and wagons; in Europe, it comes with a six-speed manual transmission or Audi’s seven-speed dual-clutch S tronic automated manual gearbox. We drove the conventional manual, complete with a new, fuel-saving stop/start system. Further engine and transmission choices are conceivable, as Audi’s mind-blowing European powertrain lineup for the A4 consists of six gasoline engines, five diesel powerplants, and four transmission choices, as well as front- and all-wheel drive.

The four-cylinder TFSI engine fulfills its everyday tasks with ease, including domination of the passing lane. There is little turbo lag, and the engine pulls strongly from low rpm. We won’t complain about the numbers: Audi says the A4 Allroad reaches 60 mph in the mid-six-second range and reaches a top speed of more than 140 mph. And the engine even sounds pretty good, with a sporty undertone you rarely find in four-cylinder mills. Still, it wouldn’t be our engine of choice for spirited driving on two-lane roads with lots of shifting and revving at redline. The torque curve drops sharply around 4000 rpm, and beyond that point, the engine reneges on its promise of relentless power from 1500 rpm on up. So it’s no Honda S2000 engine, but it needn’t be in this type of vehicle. The TFSI gives a clear indication of where mainstream gasoline engine technology is headed.
In a way, the 2.0-liter behaves like a modern diesel engine but with a higher redline. And it doesn’t use much more fuel, either, achieving a claimed 29 mpg in the European cycle—impressive for a height-enhanced, 3600-pound station wagon. Normal drivers won’t have any problem with these torquey, fuel-efficient four-cylinders, which offer the performance of a six-cylinder without the associated penalties to efficiency.

Specifications

VEHICLE TYPE: front-engine, all-wheel-drive, 5-passenger, 5-door wagon

BASE PRICE (GERMANY): $58,240

ENGINE TYPE: turbocharged and intercooled DOHC 16-valve inline-4, iron block and aluminum head, direct fuel injection

Displacement: 121 cu in, 1984cc
Power (SAE net): 211 bhp @ 4300 rpm
Torque (SAE net): 258 lb-ft @ 1500 rpm

TRANSMISSIONS: 6-speed manual, 7-speed manual with automated shifting and clutch

DIMENSIONS:
Wheelbase:110.4 in Length: 185.9 in Width: 72.5 in Height: 58.9 in Curb weight (mfr’s est): 3650 lb

PERFORMANCE (MFR’S EST):
Zero to 62 mph: 6.9 sec
Top speed (drag limited): 143 mph
FUEL ECONOMY (MFR’S EST):
European combined cycle: 29 mpg
2010 Aptera 2e - First Drive Review

“It’s a game changer.” “It’s an environmental champion.” “This car will revolutionize the way we think about transportation.” We hear this kind of hopeful hype about a lot of vehicles—off-hand, we can think of the Tesla roadster, Chevrolet Volt, and Fisker Karma—and sometimes, it even rings true. But few pieces of fanciful transportation have seemed as far-fetched, at least at first glance, as the 2e, scheduled to be produced just six months from now by California-based Aptera Motors. We recently paid the company a visit to take a quick spin in two of its latest prototypes and to see how close this wingless bird is to hatching.

Built in—Where Else?—California
A tour of the spotless Aptera facilities, located in Vista, California, gave us a glimpse of where the first production models will be built, some 5000 per year, according to the company. The Aptera’s 300-pound composite body will be made off-site at a nearby factory, and an additional production facility is scheduled and will be capable of building another 20,000 or so Apteras once it comes online. At this early stage, most of the space in the production area was open, but several unpainted body shells were sprinkled about, as well as a few early prototypes, two of which we would be able to drive. One featured a near-production-spec interior, while the other was a mule on which Aptera was tweaking the suspension geometry and the location of battery components.

Bigger Than Expected
Aptera is Greek for “wingless flight,” the company says, and the little teardrop two-seater indeed does look as though it could fly, if it had actual wings in place of its skinny front tires encased in “wheel pants.” In spite of its curious shape and three-wheel configuration, the two-passenger Aptera has far more style and presence—and far less dorkiness—than is conveyed in pictures. Sure, from some angles—particularly from up high—the lack of outboard rear wheels looks bizarre. But at a whopping 77 inches, the front track is unexpectedly wide, and the tail is high enough to serve as a buffet table. The LED taillamps double as a charge indicator when the vehicle is plugged in, illuminating in 25-percent increments from left to right across the back. A full charge is possible in eight hours from a 110-volt outlet or two to four hours with a 220-volt source. The HID headlamps feature flush-fitting glass, as do the two-piece side windows, rear quarter-windows, and skinny backlight. The latter is integrated into a hatchback that is set so far inboard that loading cargo will certainly be a Herculean challenge. The rooftop can be fitted with solar cells to power a ventilation system that will keep the interior and exterior temperatures closely matched.

Our first drive was in the prototype with the real interior. Slipping inside the 2e was easy enough, but the process of sliding under the door and then swinging your legs up over the threshold might not be too easy for the arthritic. An upcoming design change is said to swing the rearmost edge of the door more forward, getting it out of the way of your head. Once situated in the thin, manually adjustable seats, passengers find themselves separated only by a thin console and an even thinner armrest. With such inboard positioning, the cabin offers head- and elbowroom in the range of a Smart Fortwo’s, only with several more feet of cargo space in the tapered shell behind the passengers.

Specifications

VEHICLE TYPE: front-engine, front-wheel-drive, 2-passenger, 3-door hatchback

ESTIMATED BASE PRICE: $25,000–$40,000

ENGINE TYPE: single electric motor with 360-volt lithium battery pack

Power (SAE net): 70 hp
Torque (SAE net): 110 lb-ft @ 0 rpm

TRANSMISSION: single speed with 10:1 gear reduction

DIMENSIONS:
Wheelbase: 111.0 in Length: 173.0 in Width: 91.0 in Height: 53.0 in
Curb weight (mfr's est): 1700 lb

PERFORMANCE (MFR'S EST):
Zero to 60 mph: 10.0 sec
Top speed (governor limited): 90 mph

VEHICLE RANGE
Full charge: 100-plus miles

2010 Honda Insight vs. 2010 Toyota Prius, 1998 Chevy Metro

What we have here is an official C/D comparison test in which the photo vehicle, a Honda Pilot, proved far quicker than any of our contestants. These cars make you feel guilty about eating red meat. Convicted road ragers should be forced to do time in any of these three.

Both hybrids here are brand-new, if not all-new. The Honda Insight, which made its debut in 1999, has undergone the most radical transformation, gaining one cylinder, 25 horsepower, a back seat, and a shape that no longer resembles a tadpole in a spandex body wrap. In fact, what the Insight looks like is the Prius but with a smiling-fish grille instead of the Toyota’s frowning-fish grille.

We drove these mileage maestros on a 600-mile odyssey—a mix of interstates, country two-lanes, urban loops, and hilly whirligigs. The route led us from Ann Arbor through Columbus and ultimately to the southern Ohio towns of Knockemstiff and Tranquility via a side trip to Serpent Mound, a six-foot-tall earthen replica of a huge snake that was either produced by Native Americans 1000 years ago or by a ’50s-era farmer with a strong John Deere and an even stronger sense of humor.

There were no driving rules. Eco mode was not mandated. Using the air conditioner was legal. So were jack-rabbit starts and dangerous cornering speeds, neither of which we were able to accomplish. In short, we drove as we always do, trying to eke out some fun, and our observed fuel-economy figures reflect that. Indeed, that was the whole point of this test—to drive these things the way we’d drive regular cars. The regular-car control group was represented here by a 1998 Chevrolet Metro, and it was exceedingly regular. Funny that both hybrids’ consumption computers were optimistic—the Prius’s by 4 mpg, the Insight’s by 3 mpg. Final note: Knockemstiff didn’t. Tranquility was.

2010 Chevy Camaro SS vs. 2010 Ford Mustang GT, 2009 Dodge Challenger R/T

If you smoked your draft card or watched the white-suit shuffle from Tranquility Base, you may remember our last V-8 three-way with Chevy, Dodge, and Ford muscle coupes [March 1968]. Who knew then that a rematch would take 40 years? Or that the Earth would tilt so much in the meantime?

Pasadena’s little old lady is in Forest Lawn, and two of the three lords of Detroit are now government-dependent basket cases. You’d be playing long odds to believe this test will ever be repeated. Tune in to the hybrid comparison elsewhere in this issue to see what’s on the White House’s must-have list.

And those all-American, mag-wheeled, sloppy double cheeseburgers we call muscle cars? They’ve gone international, baby. Australians engineered the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro, and Canadians build it, as they do the Dodge Challenger, which circulates Mercedes-Benz blood and comes from a company that, as of this writing, is hoping to merge with Fiat. Ford Mustangs roll down an assembly line with Mazdas.

We waited until we could get all three cars—with V-8s and manuals—in one place. The last previous-generation Camaro stocker we tested, eight years ago, was a shivery live-axle primitive from the Flintstone age. The all-new Camaro is now a bunker-top four-seater—long, low, wide, and draped over the big, independently sprung skeleton of the Holden-based Pontiac G8 sedan. The 426-hp, 6.2-liter LS3 V-8 of the SS, with 20-inch Pirelli P Zero rubber and Brembo brakes—forza Italia!—starts at $31,040. Add the 2SS pack, which includes a Boston Acoustics stereo, Bluetooth connectivity, heated leather seats, and quad console gauges, and the sticker reaches $34,225.

Chrysler put a convex mirror up to its history and produced a two-door RV, a veritable magic bus of nostalgia. The prodigious Challenger is 9.7 inches longer than the relatively peewee Mustang and almost two inches wider, with a trunk big enough for a koi pond. The suspension is also all-independent, the underside derived from the Chrysler 300/Dodge Charger, which was fashioned from the toenail clippings of an older Mercedes-Benz E-class. Seeking price parity with the others, we asked for the mid-level R/T with its 376-hp, 5.7-liter semi-Hemi V-8. That one will follow you home for $30,945. However, this R/T arrived bearing $8675 in options, including a $995 six-speed manual; several leather, stereo, and luxury trim packs; navigation; and chrome-clad wheels.

Unlike the other two, the 2010 Mustang has an unbroken lineage going back to the rocket-age original. Astoundingly, considering the number of redesigns, the solid rear axle remains, protected by a ruthless cost calculus meant to hold the Mustang’s starting price about $1000 to $1200 under those of the Camaro and Challenger. A $1495 Track package is available, with stiffer springs, shocks, and anti-roll bars; very expensive Pirelli P Zero summer tires (again with the Italians); and a digger, 3.73 limited-slip rear end. Add it to the $28,845 GT with its 315-hp, 4.6-liter V-8, along with optional 19-inch machine-polished alloys, heated seats, and an anti-theft pack, and you’re talking $35,425.

The times may be a-changin’, but muscle cars aren’t the province of those who worry about the future beyond the next 1320 feet. The shimmering asphalt of an endless summer awaits.

With styling that represents a vast departure from the traditional XJ look—and not a moment too soon, we think—this new car should stand a better chance of stealing sales from the BMW, Mercedes, and Audi heavyweights. Honda Civic Si sedan
The Civic Si has the spirit of a youth car, with a high-revving 197 HP engine that can move with the finest sport coupes. Eventually its four-door body design makes it one of the most family-friendly sportsters you can buy. Furthermore, the Civic is equipped with safety characteristics, including a body structure designed to resist impacts from much larger vehicles, so it's even as safe as it is playfulness.

7. Infiniti G35

The G35 comprises all advanced Japanese sports car we dreamed of as kids. Infiniti is a division of Nissan, and the bloodline of the 350Z sports car courses through the G35's veins: It's savagely fast and brutally fun to drive. On the outside, it's judicious, luxury-oriented family car, accomplished with 4 doors and a adequate trunk.

8. No car better exemplifies the Power of More than the Lexus IS F. The formula: begin with a regular Lexus IS -- which is a bit of a mommymobile, candidly -- and then add more cylinders, more power, more noise, and lots more attitude.

9. The market is flooded with family-friendly mid-size sedans, but the glossy and sporty Altima is my favorite. If you subscribe to the "Turn off the lights when you are not in the room!" Educate of fatherhood, then you will be proud with the Altima 2.5's four-cylinder economy and pep. If you're a big kid at heart, you will likely opt the V6-powered Altima 3.5 -- a brawn automobile in judicious clothing. The Altima is even available as a hybrid.

10. Pontiac G8
The Pontiac G8 GT delivers 361 grin-inducing HP for just below $30,000, approximately the same cost as a well-equipped Toyota Camry or your intermediate family-friendly-but-boring-as-whale-poop SUV. It's got 4 doors, lots of interior space, and a big trunk, and if you can resist allowing completely 361 horses out of the barn at once, it'll actually bring back halfway-decent fuel saving.

What is the best cars that suitable for dad? Practicality? Big trunk and back seat? Dads desire all that -- but more significantly it's gonna to be cool and it's gonna to be entertaining to drive. Here are ten cars that I find especially well appropriate to the requirements of fatherhood.

1. Audi S6

Audi's hot rod S-series cars have the fatherhood recipe down pat: Take a judicious, family-friendly deluxe sedan, and then stuff in a monstrously huge motor; constrain the suspension thus it will corner at accelerates no reasonable individual would dare try; and disperse with a intelligent dose of manliness.

2. Chrysler Sebring

Bad style appears to be an integral portion of fatherhood. The style of Sebring drives with its groovy well-grooved bonnet and more-is-better interior decoration, which includes wood, leather and metal cut in a brilliant melange.

3. Chevrolet Corvette

The 'Vette is fast, it is amusing, and it is numerous automobile for the money -- without doubt it's the cheapest method to aim from 0 to 60 in less than 4.5 seconds. And for the well-heeled dads among us, there's the Corvette ZR-1 -- likely the most entertaining you can get for $105,000 (without drawing in trouble with Mom, that is).

4. Dodge Challenger

The brand-new Challenger is more than just the coolest appearing car on the earth, the Challenger looks amazing, and with a 425 hp HEMI V8, it's got the stones to back up the styling. If you promised yourself you wouldn't turn into your own father, this is the car to have.

5. Dodge Charger

The Charger has 4 doors, a large back seat and a big trunk -- put differently, it is functional. And apart from the charming styling, the Charger has nearly everything that makes the Challenger so unique -- same stupid-huge V8, same (almost) interior, and same fun factor. The Charger may not be as cool as the Challenger, but it's still pretty darn cool.

to be continue.....c

continued...

6. Pontiac Vibe
Vibe is fulfilled with the family-friendly characteristics such as a plastic-lined cargo bay with an advanced cargo arranger, which makes it good for hauling everything from soft art projects to mud-soaked dogs. Its fold-flat passenger seat means it will fit big, bulky items better than many SUVs. All that, addition with the Vibe comes loaded with safety equipment, including standard electronic stability control and antilock brakes and optional all-wheel-drive.

7. Saab 9-3 SportCombi
It is among the few mid-size cars available as a station waggon (and an implausibly fine-looking one at that). It's great to drive and its crash test scores are the stuff of legend -- it's been an IIHS Top Safety Pick.

8. Scion xB
The xB gained its popularity as mini-box-on-wheels, but a 2008 redesign saw the xB develop into a proper family-sized hatchback with more back seat and cargo space than many small SUVs. And it scores high for safety, with six airbags, antilock brakes and electronic stability control, all standard. Fine-looking, good to drive.

9. Subaru Impreza
All-wheel-drive not only grapples the road better when the weather is bad, but it also makes the car easier to handle in a unexpected panic swerve even when the roads are dry. The Impreza is the only small car to gain the title of IIHS Top Safety Pick for 2008 (the caution being that it must be equipped with the optional electronic stability control system).

10. Toyota Prius

With five souls on board, it will easily handle 45 MPG in combined driving -- approximately double the fuel saving of a regular mid-size sedan and 3 times better than many SUVs -- so it can help allay the financial affect of sudden increments in fuel prices. But the Prius' appeals go way beyond good fuel consumption rate: If has a large back seat and its hatchback body offers enough baggage space with a large opening that makes it at ease to load bulky cargo.c

Most people think that the most suitable cars for mums are minivans and SUVs. However, I think that this is not true. Outing with your family in everything from pint-size subcompacts to three-ton SUVs has learned from my wife and I that when the time it come for mums, larger is not necessary better. This is the ten cars that are ideally meets the requirements of motherhood.

1. Audi A3

A3 is a spacious mini-wagon that divides the difference between compact hatchbacks and mid-size sedans. A3 is attaching to Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) Top Safety Pick award, because of its good crash test scores and standard electronic stability control system.

2. Honda Civic

The Civic is specifically built up to resist collisions with bigger, denser vehicles. The Civic boasts a spacious back seat, a decent trunk, and a repute for being as dependable as the sunrise.

3. Lexus ES350

The Lexus ES350 gives a silence and tranquil driving atmosphere, yet it's as functional as any front-wheel-drive mid-size sedan because it is a front-wheel-drive mid-size sedan. And you do not require an executive-level earnings to afford an ES350 -- pricing begins just north of a top-of-the-line Toyota Camry.

4. Mazda 5

Most parents choose for a minivan or an SUV, but I think the six-seat Mazda5 is the best choice. It provides all the convenience of a minivan -- accomplished with sliding doors. With extraneous proportions similar to a mid-size sedan, the Mazda5 is as agile as a car in accident-avoidance maneuvers, additionally it acquires its power from a fuel-efficient four-cylinder engine.

5. Nissan Versa

Nissan's secret: Back in the home market of Japan, the Versa is sold as a small-scale deluxe car. And the Nissan badge holds a repute for bulletproof dependability. The Versa remains the top choice for family driving on the cheap.

to be continue....

The E is ideally sized, sufficient for the family to ride comfortably (without a choir of "mummy, he hit me!" "She hit me first!" from the back seat), but small enough for leisurely parking and citified handling. The E is the functional style to treat yourself correctly.

7. Nissan Sentra

It is believed that women are more pragmatic than men -- and the Sentra is one of the most pragmatic compact sedans in the market, coalescing a large back seat with a continuously-variable transmission system, a type of automated system that brings best speedup and fuel saving than a standard transmission.

8. Subaru Forester

The Forester across the boundary in between car and SUV, but dissimilar to other crossovers, the Forester behaves everything well. On the road it offers bracing handling and performance; cross-country it will maintain on a lot of heavier, heftier SUVs. And even the atmospheric condition becomes foul, the Forester is among the best vehicles of any size for safely taking off silky roads. Altogether this addition lots of cargo space and excellent fuel saving.

9. Toyota Camry

There's a reason the Camry is the popular automobile in the US, and has been for a long time: It does almost everything comfortably. It is spacious, quiet, comfy, and built alike the known brick outhouse. On the new-for-2007 redesign, the Camry extends a lot more option than ever. Most customers will choose for the well-priced and well-equipped Camry LE, but do not forget the fuel-efficient Camry Hybrid, luxury-oriented Camry XLE and sporty Camry SE.

10. Volkswagen Jetta

Volkswagen's compact sedan provides up adequate individuality for an independant woman, adequate seal of approval for the gumptious executive director, and adequate space for a arising family.
Women tell us they choose a car that's nimble, with good appearance, and Is not a task to drive. Most of them like to sit higher and most justly assert on enough of storage space, fair prices and low running costs. Place for arising families is all-important in many cases and safety is also a main factor. Moreover, a lot of women tell us that a great fun-to-drive factor is important.

The ten cars listed below meet these measures while allowing for different tastes, lifestyles, and incomes.

1. Ford Focus

The Ford Focus has a markedly dissimilar character than other Ford products that sold in the US and Canada. It i's because it was built up by Ford of Europe -- tyup, this is an genuine European automobile. The high cabin, upright driving position, spacious inner and body and smile-generating driving experience totally come up good manners of the Focus' nonmodern origins, but with the modest Ford badge on the boot -- er, trunk -- you aren't paying for a fantasy European name.

2. Honda Civic

Civics can be found everyplace, and with good reason: they are efficient, comfortable to drive, and they run alike a Swiss watch. With their valuable resale values and faultless build quality, Civics are beneficial investments for both short- and long-run. Designs like a wholly flat rider floor (no center "tunnel") cause the Civic mroe comfortable and functional. Hybrid and natural-gas power-driven editions are perfective for the cost- and environment-conscious. Without doubt, this is the compact-class leader.

3. Honda Fit

The Honda Fit is barely among a smattering of subcompact car now on the US and Canadian markets, only few others can equate the Fit's balance of front seat, back seat and trunk space. The Fit is particularly convenient in citified areas, where its tiny-sized allows it to transerve through traffic and compress into small parking lots. Its fuel-efficient 1.5 l engine has enough energy, even with an auto-transmission system, and Honda quality implies it will last an aeon.

4. Mazda 3

Mazda's modern compact along with combining the style, space, and driving joy not frequently found in this category. The 4-door costs lower at the start but we urge the 5-door for comprehensive practicality, not to bring up a little elbow room for a raising family unit.

5. Mazda MX-5 Miata

The Miata is a fantasy set of cars for a woman who does not have a family, and an first-class 2nd car for those who does. Hardly a cars have the Miata's combination of humorous in the sun and natural driving thrills, and even less bear such great fuel saving while doing it. Although trunk room is small, the Miata offerings just adequate space for a romantic weekend getaway for two. And on a daily basis, it is a great way to assign a bit sparkle into your commute.

to be continued...
